The Story Behind Calad

A message from Brendan - Bag Maker and Owner of Calad

Welcome to Calad! A few years ago, my mom started her own sewing company.

During her busy schedule, she made my first bike frame bags and other accessories. Eventually, she taught my partner @hottedesignsco to sew and she now sells her own pouches!

Fast forward to April 2024, I surprised both my mom and Leah when I said “I want to learn how to sew”. They both taught me the basics and after learning to navigate all the frustrations of sewing I was finally able to make my own bags…were they good? Absolutely not.

In May 2024, I was able to ride to the @bikepack_adventures summit with a frame bag and stem bags that I created myself. I had one a ticket through a raffle. I even had the chance to talk about the design process and the idea behind each feature of the bags I brought with me. The kind comments and suggestions I received from those at the summit motivated me to continue sewing and improve my skills and a product I can offer to those who love biking and adventuring.

Calad is about adventure and challenge. Providing personalized adventure gear of all kinds. I appreciate all the support and kind words I have received already and hope that I can add to your adventure!
